FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART March 27, 2023

We love celebrating “special days” with our family and friends at Cordova Baptist Church. It is fun to watch the “birthday boy/girl,” when we sing to them at the close of a worship service. Anniversaries always bring hugs and congratulations from our faith family. Graduations are also occasions for rejoicing, honoring the accomplishments of those who have worked hard to achieve their goals. We get excited when former members return for a visit or if someone who has been out sick is able to come back.

In fact, we look for reasons to get together as a family. Recently, a group from one of our Sunday School classes gathered to see a movie at the local theater. We went to see “Jesus Revolution,” followed by a great dinner at a nearby restaurant. We had so much fun that they are hoping to do it again. It is not uncommon for several couples to go to lunch together, after our worship service. Every Sunday is like a “Family Reunion” at CBC. We have a hard time saying “Good-bye” to each at the end of the services.

Our CBC family also enjoys celebrating holidays together. We are grateful to Mary and Barry Rogers for doing a great job of preparing the Sanctuary and Pat and Jerry Creech for beautifully decorating the Fellowship Hall for these festive occasions. Our next fellowship meal is being planned in honor of Mother’s Day. Some mention was made of the men preparing the food, so we may be eating bologna sandwiches!

Our Easter celebration will be a special service this year, as we join together with our Cordova Korean Baptist Church family on Resurrection Day! We will also observe the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper as the main focus of our time of worship. I know that you will be blessed by attending this service. I hope you will invite some friends and/or family members to worship with us. I have a feeling that there might even be some “Easter Eggs” for the kid in all of us!
