FROM YOUR PASTOR’S HEART July 1, 2024

The month of July is a time of celebration for all Americans, but especially for some of our Cordova Baptist family members. We enjoyed a great belated “Independence Day” fellowship on Sunday, with a “Pot Luck” lunch. Yet, we also have some dear friends who have birthdays this month and several couples who are celebrating their wedding anniversaries. We have many reasons for rejoicing at God’s rich blessings this month.

What makes these types of celebrations so special is the fact that we get to share them with the people that we love. Our July 4th fellowship was a great example of how much our CBC family enjoys spending time together. The food was delicious, with some wonderful desserts. Yet, the sweetest part of our gathering was the interaction with our fellow believers in Christ. As much as we love our weekly Bible Study and Worship times, there is something extra special about being able to share a time of conversation with folks who genuinely care about you.

I want to wish a “Happy Birthday” and a “Happy Anniversary” to all of you who are celebrating these special occasions in July. I know it is a gift from God that we are able to reach these milestones in our lives. As you know, Sandy and I recently enjoyed our 50th Anniversary. And next month, as we have our back-to-back birthdays, I will be having another “O” experience! For me, the numbers really do not matter as much as the joy of celebrating the events with the people who are dearest to me. That is why this past Sunday was so special, as I enjoyed time with members of my Texas family and my CBC family. It doesn’t get better than this!

No matter what month you were born in or which month marks your anniversary, you are all very near and dear to your Pastor’s heart. I love spending holidays with you, singing “Happy Birthday” to you and being able to recognize your special days. For that is what a family does! And we are truly one family at Cordova Baptist Church, as we honor our Father and follow His Son, Jesus! I look forward to seeing you next Sunday!
