Prayer for Family and Missions

Sunday’s Worship Service and Spaghetti Lunch fellowship was a refreshing finish to a very stressful and emotional week. I urge you to continue to pray for the family of Dick Collins, who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday of last week. His passing was a surprise to all of us, but it was no surprise to our Heavenly Father. He has a perfect plan for each of our lives, from beginning to end.

I want to thank everyone who helped with the Spaghetti Lunch, as well as those who attended. A special word of appreciation goes out to Mrs. Grace Shin for cooking the food for us. As your pastor, I was also very proud of how hard our young people worked on Sunday morning to help get everything ready for the meal. I am grateful to everyone for your donations. We cleared around $625 to be used for the expenses of the Korean mission trip from this first fundraiser.

Your next opportunity to help with this trip will be on June 3rd. We are planning a yard sale to be held at Burt Poole’s home on Hwy. 64 (right off Canada Road). If you have items that you wish to donate for the sale, you can call me at the church or bring them to the church. It would help us greatly if you would wait until the week before the event to bring those items, so we do not have to store them for a long period of time.

I am aware that not everyone enjoys spaghetti or yard sales, but everyone can be involved in supporting our mission team for this trip. You can all pray for those who are preparing to go. We are attempting to learn some Korean words and phrases to help us, but this is not an easy language to grasp (especially for a Texan who hasn’t yet mastered English). Please pray for us as we continue our classes on the Korean culture and language. You can also support us with your gifts. If you are unable to attend one of the fundraisers, you can still donate to the cause by designating the offering “Korean Mission Trip.” We are thankful for the loving support of our church family, through your prayers and your pocketbooks.

Serving in love,

Bro. Jim
