About

Cordova Baptist Church is located in the heart of old town Cordova.

Mission Statement

The mission of Cordova Baptist Church is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit in Worship, Discipleship, Evangelism and Missions.

Vision

As a Family of God, we seek to become more like Christ through worship, teaching and fellowship that draw us closer to Him and through ministry that leads others to know Him.

Statement of Faith

We affirm our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as the means of salvation. We believe in:
    A. The supreme authority of the Bible and its sufficiency as our only guide in faith and practice.
    B. The right of private interpretation and privilege of the individual soul to approach God directly through prayer.
    C. A regenerate church membership.
    D. The two beautiful, symbolic ordinances of the church:
        1. Baptism (by immersion) of the believer in obedience to Christ's command and upon the authority of the local church.
        2. The Lord's Supper observed in remembrance of the once crucified, now risen, Savior as the source of spiritual life.
    E. The solemn obligation of majority rule, guaranteeing equal rights to all members.
    F. The spiritual unity of all believers, for which the Master so earnestly prayed.
    G. The worldwide program of missionary fervor and evangelism, in obedience to the final command of Jesus.

Our Polity and Relationships

We subscribe to the absolute separation of church and state. The government of the church is vested in the body of believers who compose its membership. It is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body, but it recognizes and sustains the obligation of mutual counsel and cooperation, which are common among Southern Baptist churches.

In so far as is practical, this church will cooperate and support the Mid-South Baptist Association, the Tennessee Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. We further subscribe to the complete independence of the local church, and its interdependence in associated fellowship with other Southern Baptist churches.

Our Covenant

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We also engage, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel to all nations.
